are usually sort of aspirational, like “I am introducing myself to you in this way so that you will understand me as belonging to the aforementioned category.” I put “game designer” in my bio, but in this case it’s less of an aspiration that it is an empirical observation about myself. ![]() The words you use in your bio to describe yourself-like “Allison Parrish is a poet and programmer” etc. This talk is going to be about my contribution to the design process-in particular, I’m going to walk you through the computational analysis I did and some of the tools I made to make Rewordable possible, and how that process fed into playtesting to produce the game that you all know and love.īut the talk is also a bit about me trying to contextualize the work I did on Rewordable as part of a larger set of concerns that I have as a poet and artist. Clarkson Potter, an imprint of Penguin Random House, published the game last August. We were in the NYU Game Center’s Incubator program in 2016 and were funded on Kickstarter that same year. There are also reward tokens that you can earn from the words that you make each turn. ![]() On each turn, you form a word from cards currently in play or in your hand. Rewordable is a word-building card game, where each card has a sequence of one, two, or three letters. I’m going to be talking about Rewordable, which is a game I co-designed with Adam Simon and Tim Szetela. Introduction Rewordable promotional image (I also gave it a new title, to better reflect the talk’s contents.) Some portions of this talk are derived from a different talk I gave at the Independent Games Summit at GDC 2018, which itself was based on a Medium post from 2016. This version has been lightly updated with clarifications and references. Payment for Medicare Telehealth Services Under Section 1834(m) of the Act: Medicare is now authorized to pay office, hospital, and other visits by physicians and other practitioners, provided via telehealth, to patients located anywhere in the country, including a patient’s residence. The Rule will remain in place until the expiration or termination of the emergency.ĬMS has also issued a set of Emergency Declaration Blanket Waivers of Medicare program requirements that would otherwise be applicable to various participating providers. CMS also published a fact sheet with additional background information concerning the Rule. EST on June 1, 2020, and may revise the Rule in response to those comments, which is the basis for its “Interim Final” status. CMS is accepting comments on the Rule through 5:00 p.m. The Rule was made retroactively effective back to March 1, and was published in final form in the Federal Register on April 4. Other topics covered by the Rule involve independent laboratory testing, ambulance transports, home health orders, “under arrangements” for hospitals, and changes in various programs in order to place patient safety above cost considerations. Many of the changes deal with expanding provider capabilities through the use of telehealth and other remote communications technology in order to avoid risk of exposure to health care providers, patients, and the general public. The focus of the Rule is, in essence, “bending the rules” that are normally in place for providers so they can more readily treat patients during the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic (referred to herein as “the emergency” or “PHE”). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued an Interim Final Rule (“Rule”) containing, in CMS’s own words, “a sweeping array of new rules and waivers of federal requirements to ensure that local hospitals and health systems have the capacity to absorb and effectively manage potential surges of COVID-19 patients.” LDPlayer is one of these Android emulators for Windows PC. This shaver is great for travel and won’t take up a lot of room on the ledge of the tub. ![]() Schick makes a version for men in black, if the girly pink is not your thing. I found this trimmer/razor easy to maneuver and the pink/white aesthetic and slim design makes it lightweight and essentially “girly”. You can use it in the shower and rinse off each end but I wouldn’t recommend immersing it in water for any length of time, which may make for awkward maneuvering when taking a bath. It’s not water-resistant which is important to remember. This razor/trimmer combo is also waterproof which is great for use in the shower. I also find that the Venus blades dull very quickly, I haven’t been using the Quattro long enough to judge how long their blades hold up. The four-blade razor is enriched with acai berry & jojoba extracts. I like the Schick Quattro blade much better, It got me clean shaven and made my skin feel baby smooth on the first pass of the razor. I have been using Venus razor blades for years and didn’t think there was anything better out there, but I was so wrong. The trimmer can be powered on and off simply by pressing the little button which I didn’t have a problem with, but I can see how it would be easy to bump it and turn the trimmer on-and-off by accident. If you want to be completely “bare down there” or anywhere else, I suggest you use the other end and shave with the razor. Just remember that it’s a trimmer and won’t get you completely clean shaven although it does get pretty close. I never let my hair grow out very long so I had to remove the comb altogether to get proper results. The hair does need to be grown out a bit for the trimmer to catch it. ![]() I wouldn’t recommend it for large areas like the legs. The trimmer is great for cleaning up the bikini line, side burns, under arms or any other small area that needs a trim. The electric trimmer is powered by 1 AAA battery (that’s included) and has an adjustable comb for 3 different lengths that can be completely removed. This convenient and compact razor/trimmer has a traditional razor blade on one end and an adjustable electric trimmer on the other. I’ve been wanting an electric trimmer for touch-ups on the go and decided to give the Schick Quattro a try. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"-being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. ![]() We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. It is ironic how people often become what they are trying to get away from, and how we can be so pre-programmed yet still completely responsible for our will and how it relates to the equation of our lives. Of course, this isn't to say that people love their parents in a weird romantic way, but more so that we are all subject to strange maturing patterns, through which adults subconsciously derive behavior from very early and primal experiences. I think the original "her" is the speaker's mother-his original caretaker-and now that he is grown, he supplements the maternal with whomever it is who is "driving". Further, I think "I dressed you in her clothes" is a way of expressing how people tend to find elements of their parents in those who they love in adulthood. First of all, I think the "town" he is speaking of is simply his childish innocence that is fading fast. I have a somewhat psychoanalytical interpretation of it, in that I think it is about growing up, with human wants and needs that are maturing and transforming. ![]() To me, this song says so much with so few words. ![]() ![]() The software also updates the original with the addition of a high-pass in the detector circuit, external sidechain input, and a wet/dry knob for convenient parallel compression. However, if your goal is to speed up your development by adding JSON support with a single header, then this library is the way to go. There are certainly faster JSON libraries out there. However, you can template the generalized class basic_json to your needs. The default generalization uses the following C++ data types: std::string for strings, int64_t, uint64_t or double for numbers, std::map for objects, std::vector for arrays, and bool for Booleans. Each JSON object has an overhead of one pointer (the maximal size of a union) and one enumeration element (1 byte). We used all the operator magic of modern C++ to achieve the same feeling in your code. In languages such as Python, JSON feels like a first class data type. Binary formats (BSON, CBOR, MessagePack, UBJSON, and BJData).Creating json objects from JSON literals.Support ( documentation, FAQ, discussions, API, bug issues). If you’re parsing JSON files on a regular basis, and you’re hitting performance or memory issues, or you just want built-in schemas, consider giving it a try. Msgspec has additional features, like encoding, MessagePack support (a faster alternative format to JSON), and more. Specifying the schema involves more coding, and less flexibility to deal with imperfect data.Streaming JSON parsers like ijson still offer the benefit of fixed memory usage during parsing, no matter how large the input file. Memory usage when decoding still scales with the input file. With standard JSON libraries, schema validation has to happen separately. If one of the records somehow was missing a field, or if the value was the wrong type, like an integer instead of a string, the parser would have complained. That meant lower RAM usage and faster decoding no need to waste time or memory creating thousands of Python objects we were never going to look at. ![]() The pros and cons of schema-based parsingīecause msgspec allows you to specify the schema, we were able to create Python objects for only those fields that we actually cared about.
